Tully Suspension Bridge - Tully
Overview
The Tully Suspension Bridge Project involved the construction of a new suspension bridge, as well as clearing of vegetation, removal of previous bridge remnants and strengthening of existing bridges. CC Pines also put in place the necessary safety measures to ensure the training facility remained fully operational throughout the entire process.
The Works included:
♦ Strengthening of three existing bridges to allow major plant access.
♦ Substructure, including:
• Geotechnical assessment.
• 16 piles (1.2m to 28m deep).
• Complex formwork and reinforcement for pile caps and abutments; and
• Concrete Quality Control Including core temperature monitoring.
♦ Superstructure, including:
• 3D modelling, shop drawing and fabrication of 100t, 132m long suspension bridge;
• Preassembly of deck units;
• Erection of towers;
• Installation of 74mm dia cables;
• Installation of deck support system;
• Deck installation over Jarra Creek; and
• Revegetation of construction footprint.
♦ Arborist assessment and removal of trees posing unacceptable risk to the completed structure.
